Divorce

Divorce is such a sad subject. I have not experienced it and i don't want to. I found it interesting that 70% of couples get divorced within the first 2 years of marriage. This is unfortunate, because marriage takes time. Its not easy and your gonna need more then 2 years to make it work.

Parenting

Parents are important, as much as it hurts to say it. I love my parents. And i have learned so much from them. When I was in middle school i went to my mom for help on my math homework, that pattern continued through high school and i am so grateful for that. Likewise i went to my dad to quiz me on geography, times tables and Spanish.

Fathers and Finances

This week great because it made me realize how much I love my dad. The Fatherhood paper really helped my realize this. I know that my life and my brothers life would be different if not for my dad. I love baseball and i think that there would be a lot less of it if my dad was not a fan. as a result of him (and jake) i know all the rules and have seen more games then i can count.

Communication

I think that communication is important. You have to be able understand your spouse to make a marriage work. However complete honesty can sometimes not be the best policy. But one spouse should know where the other is coming from on a certain issue.

Family Under Stress

When the times comes there will be a new addition to the new family. A baby! and all the stress that comes with it. There is so much that has to change because every decision affects this other person. Disagreements will follow, but eventually there will be no problem, it just takes work.

Intimacy

I prefer to keep my thoughts personal regarding this.

Transitions in Marriage

Once a person is married there will be problems. Its inevitable and unavoidable. Thats because marriage takes work. Both imperfect people have to work to be happy in their marriage.

Preparing For Marriage

So one of my roommates is engaged and going through this right now. To be honest it looks terrifying. On the other hand I can't wait. I'm really looking forward to going through the temple for the first time. And i know that the man I marry will be able and worthy to use the priesthood and take me to the temple.

Gender and Family Life

We talked a lot about same-sex attraction. I thought it was interesting how some people who feel that way, are confused. They think, well my body responded so I must be gay. When in reality that is not what it means. In the society we live in now it is easy to get confused. It is important to know the difference.

Social Class

Something I found interesting is how social class can effect your mentality and confidence.  Kids can be mean without realizing it. just by talking about something they hear at home can have a negative effect on other kids. They can feel less important or inferior to their peers.

Falling in Love

I really enjoyed this weeks topic. One thing we mentioned Monday was the fact that there is more than one person in the world for you. Some people may find this discouraging, or disappointing. I find it hopeful. I no longer have to worry about whether or not I found my one and only. There is more than one perfect guy in the world. That is very comforting.

1/21/13

This week we talked a lot about the trends of society.  I found it really interesting that the prosperity revolution would effect the number of children people have. But I suppose that some people, when they become successful, they are less likely to give that up for a family.
